Designing spaces and experiences for meditation

Spending 10 days in silence in a Buddhist farm close by Kyoto deeply influenced my consciousness on the importance to integrate meditation as a daily ritual.

Following this Vipassana retreat, I decided to extend my stay in Japan as a “pilgrimage of silence” in order to visit Japanese teahouses and sacred spaces.
Coming back to Europe, I felt called to go deeper in this study and devoted myself to visit over 100 sacred spaces all around the world going from monasteries, churches, chapels, and contemplative architecture.

After having taken notes on how architecture articulate qualities as silence, stillness, calm , presence & well being, I collected all the travel notes to write a manifesto on the “architecture of silence”.

In 2020, I built the first “still room” in a maritime heritage building in Antwerp as an embodiment of a meditation space for the modern human.
Still room is an interior concept to create a ritual space to meditate, slow down, recharge, or empower creative focus in order to elevate our harmony between body and mind.

Still rooms are designed in the fields of hospitality , office and home environment.

In line with the philosophy about cultivating inner space, I occasionally conduct meditation classes & workshops and invite spiritual instructors to the studio's dedicated still room. By sharing humble rituals and teachings, my drive is to encourage further exploration of stillness and its transformative power.

Finally I curate & offer “start to meditate” workshops to individuals, creative agencies, companies & public institutions to inspire how to integrate meditation into daily life.

To the still mind, a whole universe surrenders.
